Senior Policy Advisor / Policy Advisor

Federated Farmers is the highly influential national voice of rural New Zealand, representing farmers who help generate over 50% of New Zealand’s exports. Federated Farmers role is invaluable to the rural sector, wider community and to our economy.  

You will be part of ensuring that Federated Farmers is recognised as a leader in evidence based policy and RMA processes.

We are recruiting for a Senior Policy Advisor / Policy Advisor to join our Regional Policy and Advocacy team. The successful candidate will be appointed to either Senior Policy Advisor or Policy Advisor position, dependent on your level of experience. 

If you recognise that the primary industry is at the heart of the New Zealand economy and you have a strong understanding of the RMA and the business of farming, here is an opportunity you should not miss.  

Preferred Experience:

  • With the RMA, primary or science sector, legal, government or a related industry.

Your skill set should include:

  • Ability to develop relationships with farmers, government and stakeholder groups.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges
  • Competently analyse policies and Resource Management Act plans, write reports and provide sound technical advice
  • Work on a range of issues relating predominately, relating to the RMA, environmental and regional policy.

Qualifications:

  • Preference from an RMA planning background but those with qualifications in law, agriculture, policy, science or a related discipline are also encouraged to apply.

The position is a full time role based in Canterbury.

Member Services and Sales Administrator

Federated Farmers is the highly influential national voice of rural New Zealand, representing farmers and food producers who help generate over 50% of New Zealand’s exports. Federated Farmers role is invaluable to the rural sector, wider community and to our economy. 

We are looking for a friendly and hard-working sales administrator to join our Member Services team in Hamilton. 

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Retention of members through outbound communication (phone/email/letter)
  • Identifying and recording sales opportunities, following up with sales campaigns and contacting potential new members (primarily by phone/email)
  • Provide effective 0800 customer service to our members

Skills/Experience Preferred:

  • A confident outbound caller with ideally telesales/telemarketing experience
  • Customer service experience
  • High attention to detail and strong administration skills
  • KPI driven and target oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and customer services databases
  • Empathy with farmers and farming community
  • A sense of humour

Territory Manager

We are looking for a self-motivated sales person to join our team covering Bay of Plenty and South Waikato.

Your primary focus will be:

  • Increasing provincial sales of membership.
  • Increasing sales of our industry specific contracts and agreements.
  • Key liaison with farmers, current members, regional policy team and our local provincial executive.
  • Door to door canvassing for new members
  • Build strong, effective and enduring relationships
  • Account management of current members.

 Preferred experience and skills: 

  • Superb sales, communication, organisation and self-management skills
  • Ability to build and sustain long term relationships.
  • Be results orientated with a strong and proven sales record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time is essential.
  • Agribusiness qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • A solid understanding of the business of farming

A full driver’s licence is required.

You must be eligible to work permanently in New Zealand.
