Meet Your Regional Council ("ECan") Election Candidates

To all South Canterbury and North Otago members
 
South Canterbury Federated Farmers has organised two opportunities for voters to meet candidates in the South Canterbury electorate of the Canterbury Regional Council (“Ecan”).
 

Meeting 1:

Date & Time: Wednesday 18 September 2019 starting at 7.30pm
Venue: Waimate Golf Club, Browns Road, Waimate
 

Meeting 2:

Date & Time: Thursday 26 September 2019 starting at 7.30pm
Venue: Ben Venue Hotel, 16-22 Evans Street, Timaru
 
Tea & coffee at the conclusion of both meetings (to gauge approximate numbers, it would help if you advised your possible attendance to: [email protected] )

 
Respective branch AGM’s will be held prior to both these meetings. The Waimate branch AGM will start at 7pm. The Timaru branch AGM (re-confirmation of office holders only) will start at 7.15pm.
 
Please note that, while these meetings are being organised by Federated Farmers South Canterbury, they are open to all members of the public. So please spread the word and bring your non-Feds friends and relations along to hear what the candidates have to say.

The Ministry for the Environment is running a series of consultation meetings on a whole raft of proposed Government policies. These include protecting productive land, urban growth to benefit people and the environment, dealing with harmful waste and chemicals and, of course, freshwater. A meeting, tailored specifically for the primary sector is scheduled to be held at:

Both the Regional Council’s proposed Plan Change 7 and Government’s various Policy Statements signal significant changes to some farming practices. Your Provincial Executives urge you to do your best to attend at least one of these meetings and have your say.
