COVID-19: 12 August 2020
To: All members of Federated Farmers
Summary
As you should be aware as of midday today the Auckland super city region moves to Alert Level 3 and the rest of New Zealand moves to Alert Level 2. To remind yourselves about what Alert Levels 3 and 2 mean for you refer to the COVID-19 website
here.
While the Auckland restrictions are currently for three days, there clearly is no certainty as to how long they will last.
People within the Auckland region have been requested to stay home and other than traveling home this morning people should not move in our out of the region.
Travel for Work within and into and out of Auckland regions
The primary sector retains its status as an essential service which means that farmers, their employees, and contractors are permitted to travel for work purposes within and into and out of the Auckland region. We understand that there will be a strong Police presence so, as before, please provide your employees/contract with their authorisation letter for travel. A template can be accessed under “Templates”
here
Essential workers should still minimise travel within, into, and out of the Auckland region.
Meat Processing
Tighter restrictions will be placed on meat processing plants in the Auckland region (under Alert Level 3) and there may be additional restrictions in plants across the rest of the country. This may have some effect (not expected to be significant) on processing capacity.
Please keep in close contact with your stock agent/meat buyers if you are looking to supply livestock to processing plants over the next week or so.
