Our leadership and development programme for 2018 is designed to increase the skill levels and confidence of all participants.

We aim to equip individuals with the required skills and experience to deliver the right messages, to the right people, in a proactive manner; in order to reach favourable outcomes which affect farming businesses, the wider rural community and New Zealand’s economy as a whole.

"Shining Under the Spotlight"

This workshop is designed to meet the needs of members who are already active in leadership roles, but wish to advance their skills.

You will gain insight into leadership styles, build on your strengths, heighten your confidence and enhance your performance.

We provide a supportive environment by helping participants through discussion and feedback sessions. We look at how to run an effective meeting, deal with conflict, improve your public speaking style, manage the media and build and sustain professional relationships.

General Terms & Conditions for the Programmes

Registration contribution for Shining Under the Spotlight are:
  • Members: $285 + GST, your province may agree to pay the registration fee for the programme.
  • Non-Members: $450 + GST.​


Participation for each programme is generally limited to 12 persons to enable optimal benefit from the learning and programme activities.


Participants pay the cost of travel to and from the course venue. The Leadership Development Programme funds the costs of the course leaders, accommodation, meals and catering course material, work books and sundry items for the programme.

The following criteria apply if participants cancel their attendance at a course:

  • Cancellation four weeks or more prior to the course start date – we will provide a full refund of registration fee, and other costs where possible (e.g. where we are able to get a full refund from the supplier, for example accommodation).
  • Cancellation between two and four weeks prior to the course start date – we will provide a 50% refund of registration fee, and other costs where possible.
  • Cancellation within two weeks of the course start date – no refund will be given (as all expenses will have been confirmed, and are non-refundable; and with such short notice it is unrealistic to confirm a replacement).


Programme Hours

The daily hours for Shining Under the Spotlight are generally

  • Day 1: 9.00am – 8.30pm 
  • Day 2: 8.30am – 3.30pm.
