Meat & Fibre

Representing New Zealand's meat & fibre producers

The Meat & Fibre section is focused on achieving a profitable and sustainable meat and fibre sector.

Members face a wide range of challenges: from increasingly discerning consumers, public focus on the environmental impacts of farming,  animal welfare and disease concerns,  to a changing health and safety and employment environment.

The Members of the Federated Farmers Meat & Fibre industry group are represented by the Industry Group council consisting of the Meat & Fibre chairpersons from each of our 24 provinces.

They are headed up by a five member executive and lead by the Meat & Fibre chairperson.

Meat Industry Option Paper

Federated Farmers is proud to present Meat Industry Options: A Discussion Paper .

This document was an initiative of the Federated Farmers Meat & Fibre industry group. With all the discussion surrounding the future of the New Zealand red meat industry, we felt it was important to provide our members with background information and points to consider on a wide range of potential options, in order to help stimulate informed debate in the industry.

Right now progress is fragmented and we need to come together before we go forward. Challenge yourselves to read it first as an individual, find what sits right with you, and then as someone who is part of an industry that feeds the world a premium product. Going forward we need your input as we look to the future with a vibrant engaging meat industry.

Download your copy of Meat Industry Options: A Discusssion Paper now and be part of the discussion as we look to the future with a vibrant engaging meat industry.

Results - Following the release of Meat Industry Options: A Discussion Paper Federated Farmers conducted a member survey to collect feedback on the paper. The results of this survey can be found here.
