Draft National Planning Standards – 1st Set

Federated Farmers made a submission to the Ministry for the Environment on the First Set of Draft National Planning Standards.

The objective of the Planning Standards is to make RMA plans simpler to prepare, easier for plan users to understand, and easier for everyone to comply with. The First Set Standards seeks to align the structure, form, e-delivery and some common content of policy statements and plans.

Federated Farmers generally supports the concept of National Planning Standards, in that they will bring much needed consistency to many aspects of plans, with one of the benefits being that they will reduce costs for both Councils and plan users.

The submission focused on tidying up a number of standard definitions, many of which seemed urban centric.
