Federated Farmers’ 2018 Rates Report summarises our efforts and achievements on behalf of farmers in this space across the year, in our local campaigns and national submissions. It examines the national state of affairs on local government finances, and looks at the challenges ahead.
The cost of local authority rates continue to rise well above inflation and are high on the list of farm operating expenses. Federated Farmers is a strong advocate for farmers on this issue. We bring sound arguments to local councils on behalf of farmers, emphasising their costly rates for community services and fair ways to reduce it, as well as working hard to get rating legislation reformed.
