Federated Farmers of New Zealand welcomes the opportunity submit to the Transport and Infrastructure Committee on the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Bill
Federated Farmers has a keen interest in the funding and financing of local government, including for infrastructure. We agree that a better funding and financing model is needed to support the provision of housing and urban development and reduce the impact of local authority financing and funding constraints, albeit for only a small number of fast-growth councils.
While supporting this Bill in principle we also wish to emphasise the need for further improvements to the funding and financing of local government and that action is needed to implement the suite of recommendations from the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Local Government Funding and Financing...
