Submission on the call for information on aquatic herbicides
Federated Farmers of New Zealand welcomes the opportunity to submit on the EPA’s call for information on aquatic herbicides.
We support farmers having access to readily available, up to date and effective chemistries to assist production. Further, having access to better chemistries helps farmers to achieve better safety, biosecurity and environmental outcomes.
It is understood that reassessing, and potentially removing, older and more damaging chemistries as new information comes to light is a core part of this system. In principle, we are comfortable with reassessing the conditions and risks of these herbicides when used in an aquatic setting.
