Federated Farmers Involvement in the Tasman District Council Global River Works Consent Application

River management is a significant issue for the Nelson and Golden Bay Provinces of Federated Farmers. As farmers, both living and working in this region, we are all linked, and impacted, by the management of our river environments, whether this is as water users, for our crops, livestock and families, through living and working as river boundary landowners, or through our experience of flooding events, which can cause extensive damage and disruption to our farming practices and our land and property. Our members are directly affected by the flow of water along the 285kms of fully maintained rivers in the district, and therefore we have a direct interest in the consent application.

This matter has now been resolved through mediation, however for more information on Federated Farmers involvement in the process, see hearing statement and other documents.
