Federated Farmers Submission on Queenstown Lakes District Council Proposed District Plan Stage 2

Rules around Earthworks and farm-stays were two of the key focus areas in our submission to stage 2 of the Queenstown District Plan review. Our submission has focused on ensuring the rules around common farm practices like earthworks, including farm tracks, fencing and planting, are reasonable, and that the plan recognises farming’s positive role in providing for the rural amenity valued by the district’s residents and visitors. We’ve also sought more leniency around farm-stays and roadside stalls, which are a great way for farmers to get some direct income from the rural Queenstown experience the district’s farmers deliver. Federated Farmers also submitted to the lengthier first stage of the district plan review and we’re awaiting decisions.
