Submission on the proposed changes to Selwyn District Council's Stock Droving Bylaw

Selwyn District Council is proposing a range of changes to its current bylaw on stock droving and Feds wrote a submission on behalf of its Selwyn members.

Overall, half of the proposals are sensible and we agreed to them. For example, reducing the speed limit for areas you cannot stock drove from 70 kms down to 60 kms. However, we objected to the Council moving to stringent standards for signal lights and high visibility clothing, and taking away its contribution for carriageway maintenance. Most of all, we reminded the Council everyone has a responsibility to use public roads safely, and that includes drivers.

We thank the members who took the time to share their views with us.
