Draft Plan Over-reaches
Federated Farmers does not support the draft plan for a number of reasons. It does not look like the draft was developed with any input from stakeholders representing the agricultural industry or rural landowners.
Essentially, we think the draft plan over-reaches in many ways, and we want to remind RLC that should this draft plan not include the agricultural sector there is no risk to RLC or wider district communities. Work to achieve the national 2050 net-zero emissions target will still be done - the sector has committed to it, legislation requires it, and consumers expect it.
