Can you accommodate displaced Christchurch residents and rescue workers?
Released 23 Feb 2011
Federated Farmers, after talking to the Civil Defence and the Red Cross, now confirms that substantial accommodation will be needed. This is to meet the needs of rescue workers and displaced persons with Federated Farmers wishing to collate offers for accommodation.
Immediate needs
Federated Farmers wishes to work with the Canterbury community to offer community-led solutions to accommodate Cantabrians in Canterbury as well as rescue workers. There is likely to be substantial need going forward so we are looking to work with the rural community to offer displaced persons and Civil Defence:
Transit facilities (eg rugby clubs with power, water, sanitation and showers)
Short-term billets (eg spare bedrooms in homes)
Medium-term needs (eg farm accommodation)
If you are in a position to assist, please contact 0800 FARMING (0800 327 646)
NB If you have already contacted the Red Cross or another provider with an offer, please do not double up by adding it to ours.
