Advocacy
How we advocate for farmersNational policyNew Zealand has 780 primary Acts and 3,365 statutory regulations impacting all farmers in areas such as trade, transport, employment, water, health & safety and economic policy. Each year, 105 Acts and 405 regulations are amended so our general policy team primarily deals with Government and officials. Regional policyWith local government spending increasing 119 percent in less than ten years, Federated Farmers' policy staff has submitted on local and regional plans in 68 out of New Zealand's 78 councils. Where ever a member is affected, we will submit to reduce the regulatory burden and unnecessary costs. Industry policyThe industry group policy team works for superior outcomes for farmers across the Federation's seven industry groups: dairy, meat & fibre, bees, rural butchers, grains, high country and goats.
