Federated Farmers Vice-Presidential candidates
Released 20 Jun 2011
After the closure of nominations last week for the position of Federated Farmers Vice-President, three nominations have been received. The election for Vice-President will be held at the Federation's Annual General Meeting on 1 July in Rotorua.
"It is somewhat unprecedented to have four presidential nominations and now three for Vice-President," says Conor English, Federated Farmers Chief Executive and Returning Officer.
"There is a considerable amount of interest in all elected positions. Given the Federation is a membership based organisation, this is a tangible demonstration of vitality and our strong democratic basis.
"It is believed to be the largest number of candidates seeking the two most senior elected offices in over 66 years of Federated Farmers modern history.
"Media are invited to cover the election, which is being held in Rotorua on the morning of Friday, 1 July.
"We envisage the Federation's new President, Vice-President and the Board will be publicly announced sometime in the morning of 1 July, with a media briefing to be held shortly after midday," Mr English concluded.
