Farmy Army starts Saturday

Media are openly requested to help Federated Farmers with an open call for farmers on a national basis. Given the extent of liquefaction, we need to muster as many volunteers as possible.
Federated Farmers Farmy Army is to return to the streets this Saturday, 18 June, under the direction of Christchurch City Council. Members of the Student Volunteer Army will be joining the combined effort as they come off exams.
Open call for Farmy Army volunteers over 18 June to 24 June 2011:
Please register at the A+P Showgrounds in Curletts Road daily between 7am and 12pm.
Initial equipment needs to be communicated:
- Trailers to carry equipment upon
- Wheel barrows and shovels
- Tipping trucks to a maximum weight of 3 tonne
- Diggers and loaders to a maximum weight of 3 tonne.
Volunteers are asked to bring with them:
- Personal protection equipment
- Wet weather gear and gumboots
- Changes of clothing.
Shower and other facilities will be available at the A+P Showgrounds. Federated Farmers will issue updates tomorrow following a briefing with the authorities. Federated Farmers wishes to thank the media for their assistance.
