The Meat and Fibre section is working towards restoring the meat and wool sector to a profitable position.

Members currently face a wide range of challenges including developments in the animal welfare field and more sophisticated customer requirements.

Federated Farmers Meat & Fibre represents the interests of New Zealand's meat & fibre producers through the Meat & Fibre industry group council.

Key challenges and campaigns

Campaign T150 - The T150 campaign sets a goal of $150 a lamb for the sheep-meat and wool industries to work towards over the next five years.

While there have been different proposals and discussions on ownership and structure in the meat processing sector of late, there is no clear focus on what the industry should be aiming for over the next five years.  The T150 campaign will provide that.

Meat & Fibre leaders know that $150 will not be an easy target to meet but Federated Farmers believes T150 is tangible, inspirational but above all, achievable. Read more »

News and Events

The Meat and Fibre sections in each province meet regularly to discuss matters of interest. The Meat and Fibre Council meets twice yearly at venues around the country, one of the meetings is the formal general meeting and conference and the other a less formal meeting.

All members are welcome to attend these gatherings to socialise, to meet with other farmers and share thoughts about the issues that meat and fibre farmers face.

All Meat and Fibre members can subscribe to receive copies of the RamBull, an industry issues, electronic newsletter.
