The future of the pro-competition regulatory regime

Released 19 Feb 2010

In the New Zealand dairy industry

Federated Farmers submits that the Raw Milk Regulations remain in place as per Option 2(a) as set out in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) ‘Review of the Dairy Industry Restructuring (Raw Milk) Regulations: Options for addressing industry concerns', May 2008, where an auction will be used to price this milk. The pricing method that will be used for the 2010/11 season, while inferior to an auction system, is also acceptable. The auction system has been signalled by the Minister.

Time that local market requirements only were supplied by Fonterra.Regulation by pollies is sure to be a stuff up.If I want to build a paper mill I dont get any assistance from existing producers. We have more than enough "Competition" now. Perhaps one has to be geriatric to remember a time when meat and wool farmers voted to retain the" freedom "to sell to who ever they wished. Yeah RIght!!!!!!!!. Why some 30 or 40 years later are so many of those farms now milking cows if that line was succesful. There is no future in "Freedom" ,its an illusion of some body who is having a bad day and end up punishing themselves..Politic reality,,,,,I support your submission. BBBBBBB MmMmM MsAgo
