Power outages and road closures around Christchurch, Sumner, Port Hills and Lyttelton - update
Released 25 Feb 2011
North Canterbury
Power outages
Electricity supplies are slowly being reconnected to areas with anecdotal reports that several more areas, such as the northern suburb of Redwood, have been reconnected. It should be noted that electricity supplier Orion has been reported as saying they are looking for areas which will provide "bang for buck".
It is unlikely areas with significant damage will be reconnected in the short term.
