New Zealand's Rural Media

Links through to New Zealand's fantastic and impartial rural media. This is a great source for research and factual information.
Newspapers
There are a number of newspapers dedicated to farming, with the websites offering articles or complete e-newspapers (click on the name to open up a new tab):
- Straight Furrow is New Zealand's oldest farming newspaper now in its 70th year.
- Farmers Weekly is a weekly newspaper, which is part of the NZX Group.
- Rural Newsis a fortnightly newspaper that is independently owned.
The major news groups also have a dedicated farming section, usually found within business (click on the name to open up a new tab):
- New Zealand Herald carries content from the APN group
- Stuff.co.nz is the online version for Fairfax newspapers
- Otago Daily Times one of New Zealand's oldest newspapers and independently owned.
Radio
There are also three radio shows dedicated to farming and all are available online to listen live (or to access their archives):
- On the Field is on LiveSport and is hosted on weekdays by ex-All Black Richard Loe (11am-12pm then a best of is rebroadcast on RadioLive between 530am and 6am).
- The Farming Show is on RadioSport (select Farming Show) and is hosted by Jamie MacKay (12pm-1pm).
- Radio New Zealand's rural news can be heard weekdays in Morning Report at 6:19 am, and Midday Report at 12:35 pm. The show is hosted by Kevin Ikin and Kelly Spring.
Television
There is one dedicated channel to farming (subscription based) as well as two free-to-air programmes. Much of the content is avaialable on-demand:
- Country99TV is a subscription channel of Sky, so you need to call Sky or TelstraClear to subscribe. Its website hosts a number of recorded shows and interviews.
- Country Calendar is a New Zealand institution and is broadcast on TV One.
- Rural Delivery is a topical magazine style show broadcast on TV One.
