Federated Farmers representatives will shortly be meeting with Horizons regional council to discuss the upcoming effluent inspections, changes to the compliance costs, the current grace period and other relevant matters. 

Federated Farmers would greatly appreciate feedback from members on your dealings with the council on this issue and any problems or concerns you maybe having. I believe the press releases/statements from horizons have been	Informative and helpful  Uninteresting  Gave a negative perception towards dairying

Do you feel the grace period from Horizons regional council is	A really smart idea and helpful  A good idea, but two weeks isn’t a long enough time frame this close to calving  Don’t care, I’m fine

Do you find the staff who do inspections	Pleasant, knowledgable, and able to assist me in making good on farm effluent decisions  They are okay they do their jobs, and don’t bother me much  They seemed to be biased against dairying, they have little understanding of farming and aren’t helpful at all

Do you believe the costs associated with inspections and effluent consents are	A bargain compared to other regions  About right, I’m not too concerned  Far too high, how can they justify this cost
