Activities
1. High country farmers' interests and property rights are protected:
- Ensure that high country issues are included in national Federated Farmers submissions and activities.
- Strive for practical interpretations and favourable outcomes of the Land Act 1948 and the Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998.
- Seek dialogue with appropriate political leaders and officials at every opportunity.
- Remain active on the Tenure Review Steering Committee.
- Provide all reasonable support and assistance to the Tenure Review "Accord" Task Force.
2. High country farmers can achieve sustainable businesses in a fair and flexible commercial environment:
- Lobby for effective district and regional plans.
- Promote and facilitate a positive image of high country enterprises.
- Promote practical research programmes and application.
- Allocate funding and other available resources to farmers' advantage.
- Encourage the active involvement of young members.
- Promote practical and affordable weed and pest control programs.
- Lobby for a satisfactory NZ Biodiversity Strategy.
- To respect the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Develop and enhance strategic alliances.
3. High country farmers are aware of the activities and issues of the High Country Committee:
- Communicate effectively with members on political, legal and technical issues associated with the high country through newsletters, releases and, where deemed appropriate, seminars and/or workshops.
- Provide a forum at the annual conference to update members on political developments and progress of Tenure Review "Accord" Task Force.
