Pasture renewal focus for latest National Farming Review

Released 03 Sep 2010

The latest Federated Farmers National Farming Review, provided free to members of Federated Farmers, features pasture renewal as a $1.6 billion economic quick start for inside the farm gate.

"The Federation is pleased to be working with the Pasture Renewal Charitable Trust because there are 1.6 billion reasons to renew farm pastures, and each is called a dollar," says Federated Farmers President, Don Nicolson.

"While pastures are the basis for our agricultural system, pasture renewal in some parts are at less than a third of the ideal rate.  Given last season's widespread drought, we wanted to promote how green can be turned into gold.

"We have also taken an opportunity to feature the Land and Water Forum as well as walking access, both of which will be coming to prominence over the next quarter," Mr Nicolson concluded.
