Canterbury earthquake update call for volunteers and help

Over 500 Federated Farmers volunteers pitched in today with upwards of a thousand expected tomorrow. The Council has now given clearance for farmers and rural contractors to bring loader tractors and preferably telehandlers to speed things along but a maximum two tonne weight limit applies.
Christchurch clean up on Sunday
After 500 volunteers attended today, upwards of twice that is expected tomorrow.
Christchurch City Council is now advising us that loader tractors and preferably telehandlers to a maximum of two tonne can now join the cleanup operations. If you have access to these can you bring them direct to the A+P Showgrounds from 6.30am tomorrow.
Canterbury's country rugby clubs and their supporters are coming into Christchurch tomorrow to assist the clean-up.

Registrations: From 6.30am.
Location: A+P Showgrounds, Curletts Road, Christchurch
Equipment needed:
Loader tractors (two tonne maximum)
Telehanders (two tonne maximum)
Wheel barrows and shovels
Larger passenger vehicles including 4WD
Trailers
Suitable clothing and personal protection equipment (eg gumboots essential with sunscreen, gloves, face masks etc)
Packed lunch and bottled water
Accommodation: Camping facilities are available on site (including showers and water),
People will have to be self sufficient for obvious reasons so tents, sleeping bags, toiletries, first aid kits are a must.
Federated Farmers wishes to publicly acknowledge Silver Fern Farms and Tegel Foods for donating food, NZ Safety for the donation of safety vests and Rabobank for its assistance. CRT is further supplying five 4x6 Tents to assist with accommodation.
