Taranaki
Introduction
Taranaki Federated Farmers has approximately 2300 members. The boundaries are Awakino, Tahora and northern Wanganui. Taranaki province prides itself on being willing to stand beside its members on issues that are considered to be unreasonable and unfair.
It liasies with four councils and strives to be proactive rather than reactive. This was evident when Taranaki Regional Council won the 2007 Federated Farmers Top Council Awards. Taranaki Federated Farmers knows what its members expect and advocates on their behalf. It is the voice of farmers in Taranaki.

Meetings
Monthly Executive Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month in the board room at its offices, 15 Young St, New Plymouth.
Scholarships
The Gladys & Alexander Shepherd Scholarship - Helps students under the age of 21 (at the commencement of their studies) and enables them to obtain further education or training in the kind of knowledge or skills which should be useful to them in their farming career or the attainment of a university degree in agricultural science. Preference is given to people ordinarily resident in the Taranaki province. Applications close last week in February each year.
John Newson Memorial Trust - Assists people who have had personal and practical experience in farming. They need to show they have an interest in improving their knowledge and ability in farming or in serving the community in rural affairs. Applicants should be 35-40. The trust accepts applications throughout the year.
