Indigenous Biodiversity Survey
February 25, 2020
The deadline to make submissions on the draft National Policy Statement to Indigenous Biodiversity rapidly approaching (Tuesday 14 March!). To help Federated Farmers better assess the potential effects of this policy we need as much information from our members as possible.
The survey we are currently running will be closing at the end of THIS WEEK, Please take the time to complete this, it can be found here.
Please have a read of Federated Farmers summary fact sheet here
This proposal affects every farmer
The proposals will affect every farmer who has native vegetation or wildlife on their properties – but especially those with bush remnants, regenerating pasture, habitat for threatened species, native grassland/tussock or a Significant Natural Area (SNA) on their land.
Submissions
The government has not undertaken any cost analysis of the potential impacts of this plan. They are counting on using data from your submissions, as the caretakers of the land, to assess what the effects may be.
We encourage you to make an independent submission. Federated Farmers has a submission template available for your convenience here
For further information please contact your local provincial office, and Thank you to those of you who have already completed the survey.
