Member Advisory

An update from Waikato Federated Farmers Executive

March 25, 2020

Dear Fellow Farmers and Feds Members

With the Convid-19 circumstances, we need to advise all our members that our Waikato Branch AGMs, which were due to take place March/April, are all to be postponed. This also means that our Regional AGM is postponed until the movement controls are lifted.

When everything is up and running again, we will direct the Branch AGMs to take place. We will hold our main Regional and Industry AGM later in the year, 4-6 weeks after the Branch AGMs are held.

  • Tokoroa has recently held their AGM and Mary-Ann Mathis was re-elected as Chair
  • Te Awamutu Branch - Andrew Reymer will take over as Chair, effective 1st April; unless anyone wants to put their nomination in before that date.
  • Regional Executive nominations are due to close at 3 pm 27th March, so if you wish to stand for a particular position please get your nomination in before this date. Nomination forms are available from the Waikato office via phone/email.

We are asking our Branch Chairs if they are happy to keep their elected positions until such time as an AGM can take place. If against this call, will then be forced to hold an AGM when practical. A recommendation made by an Executive Meeting held today is that the officeholder positions should rollover.

For those members who do not have an email, and will not be advised of these decisions, please pass on the message by word of mouth.

We will keep communications open and make any necessary decisions for the good of the agricultural industry and our members.

Protocols:

With Level 4 movement controls now being enforced, we ask that some basic protocols be observed on-farm such as 1-2 metre minimum personal distances being set, hand washing and sanitiser set up is available.

Please be aware that while many contractors and farmer services are still open for business, they will also be operating under strict protocols to ensure staff and public safety; so please be aware of this and exercise patience.

Please read the Federated Farmers Advisories being sent out. For those struggling with the drought, Covid-19, M. Bovis or other issues, the Rural Support Trust (0800 787 254) may be able to help. If you are doing okay and would like to help, also get in touch or they have a bank account that can receive donations – see www.rural-support.org.nz for details.
