COVID-19 Alert Level Information

4 October 2021

To: Waikato members

Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Huntly, Ngāruawāhia, Hamilton City and some surrounding areas are at Alert Level 3 for five days from 11:59pm on Sunday 3 October 2021.

For information on where the boundary is and how it may affect your travel, go here.

Border restrictions Auckland/Waikato

The border restrictions between Waikato and Auckland remain in place with no change. You are still required to have travel documents from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment – apply here. To cross the border you will need evidence that you have had a COVID-19 test (you do not need evidence of a negative result — you just need evidence you have been tested) in the past seven days, or a medical certificate confirming they do not have COVID-19 symptoms and, for a particular physical or other need, are unable to have a COVID-19 test.

Border restrictions Waikato

Workers must still carry evidence of their reason to cross any Alert Level boundary, for example the Business Travel Document, work order or employer letter (click here). Like the Auckland border you will need to show evidence that you have had a COVID-19 test (you do not need evidence of a negative result — you just need evidence you have been tested) in the past seven days, or a medical certificate confirming you do not have COVID-19 symptoms and, for a particular physical or other need, are unable to have a COVID-19 test.

Testing Sites

There are 67 testing sites in the Waikato Region you can find you nearest on by entering your address here https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/covid-19/waikato/

Testing centres at the Founders Theatre car park in Hamilton CBD will have additional capacity for testing and a pop-up centre at the Claudelands Event Centre will be set up. We understand a pop-up testing centre will be operating at the Raglan Rugby Grounds car park on Cross Street.

Anyone in Hamilton who has COVID-19 symptoms is asked to please get tested, and isolate until you receive your result.

Travel Documents

You cannot use Business Travel Documents from previous Alert Level lockdowns, for example from February 2021. You must register for new ones.

Applications for business travel documents from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment can be found here.

As part of this process you will require a REALMe Login - click here. You will also need your NZ Business Number (NZBN) which can be found here.
