Cyclone recovery: support ready to go

 To: Gisborne/Wairoa members

Cyclone Hale caused flooding and considerable damage across the Tairāwhiti region. Help is available for farmers and rural communities with the clean-up.

That support includes:

  • The Rural Support Trust can help you develop recovery plans, put you in touch with rural professionals and others.
  • Enhanced Taskforce Green can help with such things as removing debris, fixing fences, clearing pathways for stock movement, as well as repairs to community assets.
  • MSD Financial Support, and Civil Defence payments for emergency food, accommodation costs, etc.
  • Tairāwhiti Mayoral Relief Fund

Click here for MPI's fact sheet outline what help is available.

A crew from Taskforce Green is ready to go in our region from February 13, with a second crew starting later in the month. Federated Farmers is looking for information from landowners on what needs to be done and where.

If you need machines to move wood/slash, you should get in contact with the Eastland Wood Council as they are coordinating forestry machines.
