Cyclone recovery funding advice

The Government has announced a further $26 million boost to the grants programme helping farmers, growers, and whenua Māori owners to re-establish their businesses in the wake of recent adverse weather events. This brings the total now earmarked for disaster relief to over $50 million.

This funding is not first-come, first served, rather it is allocated on a per-farm basis. In other words, don't be concerned you'll be denying others in greater need by applying. If you meet the criteria, you're eligible so apply. Remember the sooner you are back up and running without putting yourself under financial pressure, the sooner the wider community recovers. It might even free up some time to help others.

The Government will be drawing on data from this funding round to inform future amounts earmarked for disaster relief, so applying sends a message that this event is not insignificant and help is needed.

Maize Silage Available

Whilst the grass is still growing, we understand the quality of supplementary feed which has been harvested this season is not that great in a lot of areas. There is currently maize silage available in the Waikato. We are urging those who are winter milking or holding on to additional capital stock to consider what your feed needs will be over the winter period and register your needs with the Feed Coordination Service. Once you have registered the Service will then link you with willing sellers of feed available.

Clean-up Help Available

Help is available. If you are needing any assistance with the clean-up including advice, manual labour or heavy machinery register here. The government has funded Enhanced Taskforce Green into Northland. Where skilled labour or heavy machinery is required the Farmy Army may be able to help.
