Federated Farmers Submission for Hawkes Bay Regional Council Pest Management Plan- Discussion Document
The Hawkes Bay Province of Federated Farmers and the Wairoa Branch of the Gisborne-Wairoa Province of Federated Farmers recently submitted on the Hawkes Bay Regional Council (HBRC) Regional Pest Management Plan – Discussion Document. This consultation pre-empts the formal Plan development and consultation process, and allows us an early opportunity to provide feedback to HBRC about what we think of their proposals so far.
The crux of our submission was to remind HBRC about the importance of pest management to Federated Farmers, given the impact it poses to members social and economic viability. We made specific comments on a number of pests as you will see in the full submission, however the key for us is to ensure that we can work closely with Council as the plan concepts and supporting detail are further refined, which will inform the formal statutory processes to support the development of the 2018-2028 Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP).
