Federated Farmers submitted on the Hastings and Napier Council’s waste management and minimisation plan, supporting convenient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly waste disposal options. Farmers face some big barriers to waste management, mainly lack of accessible options and cost. However there’s no-one like a farmer for re-using second hand materials that would otherwise be thrown away on an urban property. We also advocate that council rubbish and recycling should be funded by user-pays, and not on district-wide land or capital value rates.
