Senior Policy Advisor / Policy Advisor – National Team

Federated Farmers (FFNZ) is the highly influential and respected national voice of rural New Zealand, representing farmers, growers and the wider rural sector.

We are seeking a motivated Policy Advisor or Senior Policy Advisor to join our National Policy Team at Federated Farmers (FFNZ). 

The purpose of the role is to research and contribute towards policy analysis, submissions, advice and advocacy, aimed at favourably influencing the outcomes of national policy issues impacting on FFNZ members.

  • Analysis of consultation documents, legislation, and submissions on them, and progress through their processes;
  • Preparation of evidence-based discussion papers, policy statements and submissions.
  • Ensure effective advocacy of policy, including internal and external promotion, communication and advocacy of FFNZ’s policies; and media profiling of policy work and issues;
  • Consult with and maintain close relationships with Federated Farmers’ National Board, other elected representatives, members, and policy staff to ensure effective mutual understanding on issues;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and key officials in government.

Fundraising Coordinator

Federated Farmers is the highly influential national voice of rural New Zealand, representing farmers who help generate over 50% of New Zealand’s exports. Federated Farmers role is invaluable to the rural sector, wider community and to our economy.

The newly developed role of Fundraising Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for planning and overseeing campaigns and activities to raise money to support the work of Federated Farmers. This role will be essential to generating income for our organisation to support the work we do in Environment and High Court to defend farmers rights to farm. The role will report to Industry Support & Adverse Events Manager and will be involved in farmer adverse events. A great opportunity to develop systems and processes.

A passion for farming would certainly help. Preferably we would like the role to be based in Wellington but for the right person we will make it work.

We are looking for:

  • A minimum of three years fundraising, sales or marketing experience
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Adept at managing tasks, planning events, and balancing priorities
  • Experience writing grant proposals, press releases, and/or fundraising letters

Senior Policy Advisors / Policy Advisors

We are recruiting for Senior Policy Advisor / Policy Advisor roles in our regional team. We are looking for RMA experts who want to experience the satisfaction which come with advocating on behalf of our farming members.

We are looking for:
Preferably with practical experience in the fields of resource management (e.g. policy, planning or legal) or local government along with experience acting for or working with farmers.  

Your skills will include: 
  • the ability to build and maintain relationships with farmers, government, iwi and stakeholder groups.
  • enthusiasm for new challenges and rock-steady determination to see an issue through to a resolution
  • the ability to provide sound and reasoned advice, analyse policies and resource management plans, write submissions and provide sound technical advice
  • the ability to work as part of a team, bringing together multiple disciplines to present a well-rounded and credible solution.

Provincial Sales & Engagement Advisor 

Federated Farmers of NZ (FFNZ) is the highly influential national voice of rural New Zealand.   
 
We are looking for a provincial sales and engagement advisor to join our team of seven advisors throughout New Zealand.

Every week in this role is different, from day to day you will be out and about in your regions, communicating with our members and prospective members the value of Federated Farmers. From week to week you will turn your hand to organising local events, networking with other rural professionals and be able to communicate and talk all things farming. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to analyse your own results, set goals and reflect on your own effectiveness and adapt to deliver results; keeping the farmer and local community in mind, ensuring Federated Farmers is current, respected and well represented. You will work alongside our extensive network of local representatives and policy team to develop a plan fit for each of your provinces/regions. 
 
This is a full time role, looking after North Otago, Otago and Southland, so ideally based in the lower South Island.
 
Skills/Experience Preferred: 
  • Proven experience in agricultural roles
  • Experience creating sales plans and reports.
  • Confident in organising & facilitating rural events.
  • Proven ability to build relationships by adapting to the needs of the audience.
  • Positive, motivated and results driven.
  • Proven ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively.
  • A self-starter who is independent and shows initiative but also able to work with others in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in both one on one and one to many situations
  • Shown to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Embrace technology to streamline workflow through systems. Able to learn new applications to help.
