Submission on the Fair Pay Agreements Bill
Federated Farmers of New Zealand, as an Affiliated Industries Group Member of Business NZ, supports its submission on the Fair Pay Agreements Bill in full. Federated Farmers supports the Business NZ submission based on their concerns that the Bill:
• is unfair to workers and employers
• will be unworkable in practice
• will lead to a significant disputes and strike action
• will be economically damaging.
If the Bill must proceed, we propose that is should be replaced by a system of voluntary collective bargaining and interventions on poor employers that can be tailored for each specific industry.
Federated Farmers also has industry specific concerns, based on the particular business structures and labour and employment conditions of the agricultural industries that we represent.
