Federated Farmers Healthy Rivers Farm Environment Plan Groundtruthing Project
As part of our pre-submission planning, Federated Farmers teamed up with Waikato Federated Farmers, Waikato Regional Council, FAR, DairyNZ, and Fonterra to ground truth Healthy Rivers Plan Change 1 with consultants from AgFirst. AgFirst completed 13 Farm Environment Plans (FEPs) on a mixture of farms including dairy, intensive and extensive drystock, deer, and equine as part of the process and assessed the cost of implementation, with a follow up evaluation on the farmers experience. This was repeated with Fonterra completing FEPs on 11 of their dairy farms.
